Meet the Uji Matcha Latte: Real Kyoto Matcha, Café-Quality at Home

A vibrant iced Uji matcha latte made with Fu Matcha Uji Latte powder

We're so excited to introduce our very first signature product: the Uji Matcha Latte (40g) — and to celebrate, it's launching at a special price of $29. It's the drink our customers kept asking us about, finally in a pouch you can make at home in seconds. Here's the story behind it, and why it tastes the way it does.

First, what makes it "Uji"?

Not all matcha is created equal, and the difference starts with where it grows. Uji is a small city just south of Kyoto, Japan, and it has been the country's most prestigious matcha region for over 800 years. Its mild climate, misty mornings, and rich soil make it the gold standard — the place serious matcha lovers look for on a label.

The secret is in the shade

A few weeks before harvest, Uji's farmers cover the tea plants to block direct sunlight. Deprived of sun, the leaves produce more chlorophyll (that electric-green color) and more L-theanine — the amino acid behind matcha's gentle sweetness and calm, focused energy. The result is a matcha that's smooth and naturally sweet, with almost none of the harsh bitterness you get from ordinary green tea.

Shade-grown, hand-picked, and stone-ground so slowly that a single mill makes only about 30 grams an hour. That patience is what you taste.

Why it makes the perfect latte

A great matcha latte needs matcha that's bold enough to shine through milk but smooth enough to stay creamy — not chalky or bitter. Our Uji Matcha Latte is blended for exactly that balance. It whisks up silky, holds its vivid green in any milk (dairy, oat, almond, you name it), and tastes just as good iced as it does hot. It's café-quality, without the café line — or the café price.

What's in the pouch

100% pure Uji matcha — nothing else. No fillers, no added sugar. Each 40g pouch makes roughly 15–20 lattes, so your daily ritual works out to just cents a cup. Imported directly from Japan and shipped fresh across California.

How to make your Uji matcha latte

  1. Sift 1–2 teaspoons of Uji Matcha Latte into your cup to keep it clump-free.
  2. Whisk with a splash of hot (not boiling) water — around 175°F / 80°C — in a zig-zag motion until smooth and frothy.
  3. For an iced latte: fill a glass with ice, add your milk, then pour the matcha over the top for that beautiful two-tone look (just like the photo above). For a hot latte: top with steamed or warm milk.
  4. Sweeten to taste with a little honey or syrup, give it a stir, and enjoy. 🍵

A calmer kind of energy

Because you're drinking the whole ground leaf, a matcha latte gives you antioxidants (catechins like EGCG) along with that L-theanine-and-caffeine combo people love — a smooth, focused lift without the jittery coffee crash. It's the kind of drink that fits a slow morning and a busy afternoon equally well.

How many lattes does one pouch make?

About 15–20, depending on how strong you like it (1–2 tsp per cup).

Can I use any milk?

Absolutely — it's delicious with dairy, oat, almond, soy, or coconut. Oat milk is a customer favorite for extra creaminess.

Is it good iced?

Yes! It's built for iced lattes — it dissolves smoothly and keeps its vibrant green over ice.
